I just came across The Elemental Journal: Composing Artful Expressions from Items Cast Aside by author Tammy Kushnir and fell in love. This wonderful book offers step-by-step visual and written instructions on how to create art by using items available in your home and creating new beautiful keepsakes and journals full of art for yourself or even to give away as gifts.
The Elemental Journal” shows you how to create journals, keepsake boxes and other memorable items by using using pieces from nature, cast-off container, paper, plastic, and metal. Now, these aren’t journals like what one would expect to find in a store. They are small, intended to hold just a few pages but they are unique and artistic. This wonderful book gives you easy step-by-step instructions on how to make these beautiful projects full with the complete tools and supply list. This book will teach how you how to simply take trash and make it into small treasures.
This simply loved this book. I liked the idea of taking recycled items around my house and now being able to use them for something else, as journals. As a freelance writer, always running out of books to write in to keep my notes, this book comes in handy. The format of the book is easy to follow with colorful photos to show the steps as well as the ending result of the project.
I recommend this book for anyone who wants to get in touch with their creative side. It will surely spark the artist in you.

Johanna,
I love your book reviews. It’s great that you do a lot of reading. I wish I did. I have a bit of ADD so it’s hard for me to concentrate sometimes. I do like to read Old English books though. You read any of those?
Anyway, hope you’re having a great week and had a fantastic Mother’s Day. Oh, by the way, I know you said you were visiting your mom. How did that go?
Well, take care and keep me posted!
Sincerely,
Lexie
