The book itself covers everything from  peer pressure, eating disorders, love, romance to  sex, academic demands, life goals, and so much more. In addition, other topics include the family relationship with the girls discussing “Fathers to Daughters”, ’why Daddies Matter” and my favorite chapter “Girls and Their Mothers”. Dr. Dobson is wonderful in explaining all the issues young girls face today and the importance of the parents role in building our daughters become strong, confident and independent women.

Through Biblical principles, this book is equipped with heartfelt advice and concrete messages needed to make life altering  decisions. Daughters need to feel secure in their upbringing and this book is the tool to help parents accomplish that. This book will help any parent  deal with the challenges our daughters face in a superficial, corrupted society.

Times has changed since I raised my daughter, we faced many challenges such as self-esteem, confidence, to first heart breaks and even later self-acceptance. This book appears to cover it all. I have now passed this book to my daughter as she now raises her own daughter. This book, may just make her understand, strengthen and bond with my granddaughter at a different level than we did. After all, bringing up girls is tough.

About the Author

Dr. James Dobson is the Founder and President of Family Talk, a nonprofit organization that produces his radio program, “Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk.” He is the author of more than 30 books dedicated to the preservation of the family, including The New Dare to Discipline; Love for a Lifetime; Life on the Edge; Love Must Be Tough; The New Strong-Willed Child; When God Doesn’t Make Sense; Bringing Up Boys; Marriage Under Fire; Bringing Up Girls; and, most recently, Head Over Heels.

Dr. Dobson served as an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at theUniversity of Southern California School of Medicine for 14 years and on the attending staff of Children’s Hospital of Los Angelesfor 17 years. He has been active in governmental affairs and has advised three U.S. presidents on family matters. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (1967) in the field of child development. How many of us has been in a relation, thought to be happy only to face betrayal from the person that suppose to love you.  The First Husband written by Laura Dave, is the book to remind us on the hardships of love, the prospect of new beginnings all while making  decisions that ultimately shapes who we are.  

Annie Adams finds confused, alone and upset after her boyfriend Nick, of five years leaves her for another woman. Annie’s best friend, who also happens to be Nick’s sister helps her through this difficult time and later, Annie finds herself taking control of her life. Griffin, a chef,  enters Annie’s life and everything changes. Annie and griffin fall in love and marry. Life couldn’t be any better . That is until Nick comes back wanting Annie back. Annie then is jolted back to old some old feelings, does she still love Nick? What about her life with Griffin?      

 The novel  follows  the choices that Annie must make with regard to love, friendship, and career. Choices that we  all at times may have found ours selves in.  The novel itself is written eloquently and as a reader, you can’t choose the guy for her because you don’t quite grasp who is right for her.  In the end, you see Annie resolving her conflict, but who does she choose?

This book is heartfelt and at times even comical. It really depicts life and relationships in a nut shell with unexpected twist and turns, I recommend this book to anyone who simply enjoys a good read.  It makes a perfect summer read!

The book deals with the story of Little Cub and his Grampa being bothered by otters while they are out fishing. Little Cub yells at them to leave, but Grampa tells him to calm down, explaining that it is important to show the otters love, even when they are being bothersome. The story then goes to explain all different different types of love, the love of a mommy and daddy, and that of family members and friends, and of course, the love of God.

Bergen does a wonderful job explaining love, faith and forgiveness while illustrations from Laura Bryant enhances the story making it believable and captivating. My two year-old truly enjoyed the pictures while I read him the story.

In all, this is a great book with a powerful message about LOVE and highly recommend it to every family’s shelf.

Andi finally finds the man of her dreams and marries him. Ethan is everything she wanted and more but, he is a divorced father of two daughters, Sofia and Emily. The automatic family does not bother Andi and she hopes one day to add to the family by having a child of her own. Yet, as time passed, Andi realizes she cannot get pregnant and Ethan will not consider adoption.

 As Andi becomes to accept the idea of never having children, she begins to have problems with Emily.  The dynamics soon begins to fall apart. Emily Proves to be difficult and Andi cannot understand or cope with her actions and behavior. Andi and Emily’s  relationship is full of turmoil and Ethan is found in the middle of a tug and war battle. What will happen to this family? Why is Emily so full  of hate? Would Andi loose the man she loves?

This book really takes you inside a family full of so many emotions and through narrative voices you are to see Andi’s point of view and later, that of Emilys’. Therefore, you can relate to Andi in trying to hold a family together, of wanting to be a mother and then in trying to understanding being a stepmother. Emily, struggles with self-esteem and the loss of connection with real mother and father as she tries to fit Andy. As you read this novel, you learn to love and hate the characters but in the end, you will understand them.

I really enjoyed this book. This novel offers insights to family dynamics and many life lessons to be learned. It is heartfelt, chaotic and inspirational. Jane Green is truly talented and I will now look for other novels to read. Another Piece of My Heart also comes in Audio format which would be great for anyone that enjoys listening instead of reading.  

In all, I recommend this book to anyone who simply enjoys a great read. This book is full of powerful messages reminding us, that everything on the surface may not appear as it seems and that family, is truly everything.

The first product I used was Rejuv,  a gel like anti-wrinkle cream in where applied to my face at night before going to bed and again in the morning before applying my make-up. My husband is so great! While visiting a local book store he came across a book called History’s Monsters:101  Villains from Vlad the Impaler to Adolf  Hitler and entered the  world of all these monsters and their gruesome history. I love history and reading on the most notorious killers, kings, rulers, etc. was a real treat.

The books serves as a short- encyclopedia giving you brief but enough details on the particular monster.  It starts from the very beginning of time to present day, so you learn about Crassus, to Vlad  the Impaler, Lucrezia Borgia to Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein and all the way to Osama  bin Laden. You meet all of them, here in this book.

If you like to catch up on the dark side of  history, then this book is for you. You will truly enjoy it.

First, I have to say that I am not a big fan of mystery novels  but, this book kept me intrigued and captivated till the end. The characters are well developed and you will get to hate some and love others.  Draper did an exceptional job creating scenes not to be expected, taking you to the ugly side of professional sports. You get to experience gang violence, drugs and murder but at the same token, you also get to see  the ties of loyalty and friendship as Randy, Roseanne and Graham,  undaunted by this dark world, bound togther to clear Johnny’s name.

The read itself is addictive. The plot is thick with twist and turns, you never know what is going to happen next and just when you think you  know, guess what? You don’t!  There are some descriptive violent scenes enhancing the story with adrenaline and some story lines of hope and redemption but in all, you will understand the characters. This is Michael A. Draper’s first book, and I have to say, it is truly outstanding and superbly written. I want more and  you will too. Yes! Is that good! Draper is truly destined to make his mark among the world of great novelists and I can’t wait to see what he has stored for us next.   

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a new, exciting and fresh novel. This book will feed the appetite of those hungry for a good mystery, thriller or  suspense. This book has it all and sure not to disappoint.

Michael A. Draper holds a master’s degree in teaching from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. He spent four years in the Air Force, achieving the rank of captain.
