I recently read an article in Woman’s Day written by Mary Hunt in where she outlines how some stay-home-moms  make money working from their home computers. I thought the article was interesting so I am now sharing it with you;

  1. Sell your craft- If you are good making some art projects, knitting or jewelry making, you can sign up with Etsy.com. As a Etsy member, you’ll have your own online store to showcase your items. It is free to join and if your items sell, you then give Etsy a 3.5% commission.
  2. Jewelry maker?- At Jewelrywonder.com, you can open a free online store but you need 30 pieces of your jewelry to open the account. There are no set up, transactions or monthly fees, no hosting or listing fees. Sellers set their own prices and basically run their own store.
  3. Artist or a Art Supplier?- Artfire.com is the site catered to different artists, art suppliers, crafters and media creators. At Artfire.com you can open a basic free account that allows you unlimited listings and four pictures to each item you are trying to sell.   A Pro account is set at $15.95 a month with 10 pictures per item, including a customizable “store” and promo. There are no transactions fees, so whatever you make you keep.
  4. Offer your services- At fiverr.com, you can offer your services and/or talents, such as designing business cards, creating a podcast jingle, planning a trip, taking pictures, and more. Each gig is paid $5.00 per pop, fiverr gets a $1.00 and the seller gets $4.00.  The more gigs you do, the money you make.
  5. Are you a Nurse?- If you are a registered nurse, you then can work with fonemed.com  as a On-Call Nurse. As a nurse for fonemed, you can provide phone-based triage and medical information to customers in Canada and in the U.S. The hours are typically in the evenings and weekends but you work from home. Fonemed nurses make $27. per hour and are eligible for benefits.
  6. Freelance Writing- Sites like demandstudios.com and associatedcontent.com hire experienced freelance writers, editors or filmmakers to work on projects for sites like eHow, LiveStrong.com and Youtube. Payouts are designated at per projects ranging from $15.- $100. and both sites offer health insurance benefits.
  7. Web Designer?- If you are a Web Designer, you can sign up with elance.com in where companies seek and hire designers and computer programmers. Companies post jobs and the designers bid on the jobs they want with their own price, their experience and portfolio. if your bid is chosen, you then pay Elance a commission of 4-6% of what you earned.
  8. Tutors- If you have a college degree or currently enrolled in college, you can tutor kids online with Tutor.com. Tutors work as independent contractors and earn about $10-$14. per hour. The more  you tutor, the more you make.
  9. Give Advice- Justanswer.com is a paid question-and-answer site that gives expert answers from medical, legal, to home improvement and car repairs questions. Registered customers ask a question and name the price they are willing to pay (usually $10-$40) for an expert answer. How much money the experts earn depends on how many questions they answer.
  10. Customer Service- These days many companies are hiring third-party contractors to do more phone work.  Sites like alpineaccess.com and workingsolutions.com, hire home-based workers to take calls for large and small companies. These Reps usually have to put 40 hours a week in their home, and are paid from $9-13 per hour.

So, that is the list. I hope you guys found this article useful, I know some of us are always trying to make a few extra dollars and I thought this information might be helpful.

Here is some information I researched related to my “Blaming the Victim, again?” article I posted on 8/10/10.

Franco is a preemie. Today he is 1 but still trying to catch up developementally. Slowly, he is reaching every mile stone with ease and grace, and we could not be any prouder. Yet, nothing prepared Lou and I for preterm labor and a baby weighing only 2 pounds. Nothing prepared us to have a baby with a dagnosis of a 50/50 survival rate.

Below are some of my favorite  links that helped me get through those early days of Franco’s life, I hope these links can be helpful to you;
